the only joy i’ve found in international business class
is the stupid mistakes companies make with their translations.
uh for instance…
kfc’s slogan “finger lickin’ good” was understood in japanese as “bite your fingers off”
coors brewing co. had their “turn it loose” slogan translated in spanish as “suffer from diarrhea”
pepsi co attempted a chinese translation of “come alive, you’re in the pepsi generation” that read to the chinese as “pepsi brings your ancestors back from the dead”
and i love perdue chicken trying to advertise in spanish that “it takes a strong man to make a chicken tender” - all they read was “it takes an aroused man to make a chicken affectionate”
